15 years after he released it, 11 years after his death, 6 years after ER used it in one of the most emotional scenes of its entire run, 4 years after it played over the closing credits of 50 First Dates and 2 years after it was performed by Ted's a capella group on Scrubs, Israel Kamakawiwoʻole's version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow seems to have finally arrived on pop radio.
The next logical steps will be appearances in commercials, excessive use as background music in all kinds of tv shows and the unevitable dance remix.
